    A couple years ago when I turned 18 my aunt made me this portal themed cake, she had never played the game so she watched some let's plays and asked her son who has played the game for inspiration. I still think it is the best cake I've ever seen

    I have serious issues with lower fov in (fps) games, so I always tend to find a way to customize the game to my liking...not portal 1 so far. For some reason I can mess around with the viewmodel_fov seemingly as much as I want.

    I have tried editing the config file using fov_desired 120 and bind "w" "+forward; fov_desired 120"(both in console and editing the config), tried fov 120, cl_fov 120 (which only works with portal 2). I found a fix for HL2, but doesn't work with Portal.

    I wanted to try this fix out, but I couldn't find the lines so couldn't edit them either. (Plus it might not be something I can do. -yeah, I'm terrible with numbers and such, I'm well aware of that)

    FOV programs that I found were for specific games or plain not doing anything.

    If older versions allow higher fov, then I'm fine with a downgrader too. (If it means I can still play map packs)

    Edit: I have managed to get it unpatched (No further compliance information is required or will be provided, and you are an excellent test subject! -nudge-nudge.) I believe any version before a certain 2013(?) patch should suffice...

    So first thing I did was personalizing and preparing the view model for higher fov: Gave Chell hands (yes, plural) and a reskinned portal gun. These are two separate things and personal preferences, if you want a different hand and/or portal gun, you can have them your way.

    The options: So instead of desired_fov the older version needs only fov, BUT it also requires sv_cheats so to avoid constant messages and being stuck walking forward, I recommend you something like this(config or console):bind "f" "sv_cheats 1; fov 120; sv_cheats 0"bind "w" "+forward; viewmodel_fov 70"

    Because the view model doesn't need sv_cheats...and yeah, the game views that as cheating so probably achievements will be disabled.
