    Difference between official Valve release vs Ipecac / Collector's edition soundtrack

    hello all, here's a neat link for The Courtesy Call that you can listen to. listen to 1:07 onwards. I'm sure you're all aware that the soundtrack has been available on Spotify since 2018.

    for audio-minded people:

    • labels are putting their entire back catalogues on streaming platforms in lossless quality (!)

    • golden age for discovering new music because we don't need to buy CDs off discogs anymore

    • Valve released mp3s and incl in game folder in 2011, a Collector's Edition was released the following year (for $73 lol)

    • Ipecac release was obtained from Deezer in FLAC, Valve release was in 320kbps (near lossless)

    • Audio inversion gives us a wealth of information about mixing, stereo fields, it's not just for making instrumentals

    • Useful tip: resample both of your tracks to like 96khz when aligning them. despite not actually introducing any new information, it still improves the accuracy of the inversion significantly.

    • Composer didn't bounce audio tracks, just a straight render from the DAW = we can isolate certain instruments because the audio signal isn't exactly the same

    • For instance, synths will make different signals every render, Kontakt audio libraries will have different round robin samples each render

    • Instead of just listening to the audio inversion, compare both versions directly too

    • Mixing is different in Courtesy Call: brass at 2:20 on Ipecac release is obviously missing the SFX, but it's also very dry = missing 'verb

    • Electric piano synth immediately following it also seems botched in Ipecac version

    • Possibly other differences I haven't noticed yet + the rest of the soundtrack

    • idk if someone else has already noticed these things

    Finally I just took a look at this in old reddit and the formatting is fucked, but on NuReddit it looks fine. Fuck NuReddit. you need spaces

    Portal following rattmann

    I'd like to see a portal 3 starting at bring your daughter to work day following rattmann and maybe at the end a time skip where he puts chell on the list and maybe even some closure to who her adopted father is and maybe even mumbling among the employees saying I can't believe cave made blank his adopt his love child if she really is his daughter and I would just love it

    Splitscreen coop on PC across two monitors?

    Hello, I have my girlfriend coming over in a few hours and I want to set up Portal 2 on Steam to be splitscreen with one person on one monitor and the other person on the other monitor. How would I go about setting this up and what do I need to do controller wise or keyboard wise?

    What happened to Cave Johnson?

    First of all I want to state that I am not that informed what is canon and what is not. But in this clip (https://youtu.be/IHjM4uBkN-M) from Poker Night 2 Brock is asking GLaDOS what happened to Cave Johnson. For some reason the whole interaction makes me immensly sad. So I git a few questions:

    So we actually know what happened to him? I know that it's implied that he died as Caroline's brain was uploaded and not his but is his death due to moom rocks confirmed? Does The Venture Team (I still really fon't know what that is. Is it like a TV series?) take place in the same universe as Portal?

    On a rather unrelated note: what do you think was the in-universe response of Black Mesa to the whole bring-your-daughter-to-work incident?

    Why isn't Aperture science full of zen fungi and other extraterrestrial life

    In Portal 2 we see that aperture is overgrown with plants and crows have nestled in the ruined facility but since half life and Portal take place in the same universe (or multiverse) shouldn't there be xen fungi every where like In half life aylx. Another thing is that since in Portal 2 we see massive gaping holes in apertures ceiling why didn't any antlions fly in and takeover the ruined facility, yeah sure apertures defence protocol could keep them at bay for a while but for 9999999999 days? I feel this is something that needs talking about.
