Just bought Portal 1 and 2 yesterday... Posted: 27 Jun 2020 09:34 PM PDT ...and I just finished them today! I honestly did not know anything about either game and was just expecting fun puzzles. My amazement as a story began unfolding as I finished each room was such a great feeling. I looked at every detail and when I finished the first I thought there was no way the second would live up to it and wow was I wrong! The twist in the middle of the game caught me off guard and discovering the underground was shocking! I don't know why it took me this long to play them because as a kid I played the portal flash game while watching so many videos of fan made levels. I just wish I could replay them with no knowledge again! [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Jun 2020 04:21 AM PDT So I thought about this question for a while after watching the unused voice lines in Portal and Portal 2. After intensive thinking, I've come to a conclusion that it's all because Chell is at the top of an excel spreadsheet tampered by some mad scientist. [link] [comments]

The Portal 2 co-op levels are really, really good. Posted: 27 Jun 2020 11:23 PM PDT Having 4 portals instead of 2 adds a whole layer of complexity, and if you have a good friend to play with the chambers are super fun to go through. They're actually pretty challenging too, much more than the singleplayer campaign, which I appreciate. I hope that if we get a Portal 3, we get an even longer co-op campaign. [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Jun 2020 01:49 PM PDT This is a theory I made up in a car ride, after completing LIMBO for the couple hundredth time, I thought "Wow, this concept of being trapped in hell seems pretty cool". The game's plot is that you are a young child trapped in purgatory and you must find your sister and get to heaven. Back to Portal.. What if Portal is also taking place in purgatory, And Chell escaping is her finding way to heaven? Additional Information: GLaDOS could represent Satan. In my opinion this is self-explanatory. She is basically the god of Aperture. Wheatley is Chell's guardian angel. His purpose is to guide Chell and help her escape. However, Nobody in hell is meant to EVER escape, This is why GLaDOS is so determined to stop her from escaping out of thousands of test subjects. This is also why GLaDOS hates Wheatley SO much, because he's trying to help people escape. Story: Chell's death: The first Portal goes out normally. Until the end, When Chell kills GLaDOS, and they get pulled up. However, when that happened, Chell died in the explosion, And her levitating into a bright light in the sky represents her going to heaven after her death. But, she gets stopped and falls back to earth, and she gets taken away to Hell, explaining Portal's end scene. The Courtesy Call: She gets waken up many years later by her guardian angel, Wheatley. He guides her through the remains of Aperture, or, Limbo. He accidentally wakes up GLaDOS, or The Devil. She realises he's trying to break somebody out of Limbo to her utter dismay, and she kills him. She then drops Chell into the second circle of hell, Lust. The Cold Boot: Nothing much of interest happens in this chapter. GLaDOS puts Chell in eternal torment in Hell. The Return: Wheatley returns. Nothing much of interest happens in this chapter either. But, Wheatley is revived, Maybe by God. The Surprise: Again, Not much interest in this chapter. The Escape: Wheatley helps you break out, through the outer layers of hell. He tells you that it's finally time to escape, and he decides to kill GLaDOS. Que the core transfer, Wheatley becomes Satan and is about to let you ascend to heaven, but at the last second before your purification, he gets corrupted by Satan and drops you into Treachery, The 9th and Final Circle of Hell. The Fall: As stated previously, Old Aperture represents Treachery. From Wikipedia: Trapped in the ice, each according to his guilt, are punished sinners guilty of treachery against those with whom they had special relationships. The lake of ice is divided into four concentric rings (or "rounds") of traitors corresponding, in order of seriousness, to betrayal of family ties, betrayal of community ties, betrayal of guests, and betrayal of lords. It fits perfectly, after Wheatley's betrayal just a few seconds ago. The Reunion: The Eighth Circle, Fraud. However, Nothing important happens here in terms of the theory. The Itch: Wheatley is now Satan and has taken it upon himself to run Hell. He decides to torment you with tests. The Part where He kills You: Not much for the theory happens here, The end-cutscene, however, GLaDOS finally lets you get to heaven. She swallows her pride, and for once, lets somebody leave hell. After you ascend to heaven, GLaDOS shuts the door behind you, completing Chell's quest for freedom. Evidence: During The Fall, One of the boxes is labelled "Tartarus". When GLaDOS lets you escape, the cutscene is quite similar to Greek Myth, according to the myth, when you die, you float up to heaven with a chorus around you, In this case, The Turret Opera, then when the ascension has finished, you are in a cornfield, and you meet up with your best friend. In this case? Companion Cube. So, whaddya think lads? I couldn't see anyone believing this, but I had to do something in quarantine and that was write this story. [link] [comments]
I am looking for a friend to play the Portal 2 co-op with. Posted: 27 Jun 2020 01:00 PM PDT Hello, I have had portal 2 for a while on Xbox, and recently I decided to pick it up on Steam. I have never played the co-op and am wondering if anyone else (who preferably hasn't played the co-op as well) would like to play with me. Thank you! :) Edit: I forgot to include my steam account link: https://steamcommunity.com/id/quack0i/ [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Jun 2020 08:55 AM PDT I've been trying to play Portal 2 with someone, but we're running into an issue where both our mics are constantly streaming. On default settings, the push to talk button is set on c. I don't even see a way to disable voice chat at all. Could anyone help? [link] [comments] |
