    What if, during the turtorial of the game, you're not actually playing as Chell, but as another test subject?

    That would explain why the paintings in the room changes when you wake up and why the center wakes you up when it stops waking up test subject. Chell didn't kill GLaDOS yet and wouldn't be in cryo sleep.
