Posted: 14 Jan 2020 09:12 PM PST Imagine you're Chell, right? And something falls out of GLaDOS and begins talking immediately. What would you expect that fallen thing to say? What are the right words in that situation? As the fallen thing suddenly speaking, would you tell Chell about GLaDOS' plan right in front of them both and then explain how you being thrown into the incinerator is ultimately a good thing for the future of the facility? Do you plead for your life, sparking a sense of doubt in Chell's conscience that would prevent her from doing the thing she needs to do? If you were the Morality Core, what would you determine the 'right solution' to be? Nothing. Play dead. Don't move around too much if picked up so that you look as much like a testing asset as possible. Pretend everything is normal. Spheres emote by swirling around madly, so the Morality Core is actively making an effort not to speak in order to not freak Chell out. It can speak, and it spoke to GLaDOS the entire time it was rigged onto her. It's also very possible that the Morality Core can only speak to (and therefore be heard by) GLaDOS, and it was either speaking to her, or possibly through her, in order to 'deceive' Chell into destroying it. You notice that GLaDOS laughs and turns manipulative when the Morality Core hits the bottom of the incinerator and explodes, and that's because you literally just blew up her fucking conscience. The Morality Core knows that, once it dies, Chell will be desensitized to the action of throwing cores (entities that resemble living things, even if only in programming) into the incinerator, and therefore her task will be that much easier. Chell, as a mute and therefore being unwilling to ask questions, had no idea what the Morality Core was, so if it had taken any action whatsoever, it would appear as sentient and therefore be harder to throw into the incinerator. GLaDOS and the Morality Core saw Chell euthanize the Companion Cube quickly and without hesitation, so the Morality Core figured that by behaving in a way that made it look as inanimate as possible, Chell would put the pieces together - GLaDOS is notoriously deceptive and is telling Chell not to throw the sphere into the fiery depths of Hades, but the Morality Core knows that Chell already knows that GLaDOS is a 'compromised agent' and isn't worth obeying. TL;DR - The morality core is playing dead because it knows about Chell's lack of hesitation in being forced to bump off the Companion Cube and that she might have second thoughts if the thing she's supposed to incinerate suddenly began talking to her [link] [comments]

He's using a controller, I use keyboard, this should be possible i thought. Does anyone know what the problem is here? Thanks [link] [comments]

Portal 2's 10th birthday this year. Posted: 14 Jan 2020 02:38 PM PST 10/Oct/20. The birthday of one of the most legendary video games, And I really hope Valve uses that as an opportunity to do something big. Not a fucking Bridge Constructor reskin. One thing I long for is a Portal 1 and 2 remake, with the following features: -On PS4, PC, etc. -A character customizer. You go into the pause menu, and go into "Customization", and when you click that, some more options appear. "Portal Gun", "Wheatley" GLaDOS", "Turrets" etc. and when you go in, you get more options, example: "NEW WHEATLEY SKIN" "UNNAMED WHEATLEY SKIN 3" "UNNAMED WHEATLEY SKIN 2 "UNNAMED WHEATLEY SKIN 1" If you click on a skin you already saved, you can (Oh, right, I should mention I don't really want a small limit like 4.) you can edit it, or apply it in game. If you make a new one, you can apply stuff like Eye colours, Portal colors, colours, stripes, stickers, company logos (although copyright may get that one a little difficult) and you can rotate them, resize them and place them wherever you want. For portal gun colors, Two color wheels and two brightness sliders. For robots, Eye colors will have just one color wheel, and one brightness slider. Then, you can save it and name it. Who am I kidding, this franchise is dead. [link] [comments]
