Possible Portal 3/Mod Teaser Posted: 04 Jul 2021 03:44 PM PDT Earlier today I came across an interesting Twitter account with the username dHJhbnNtaXNzb25. Just looking at that username might suggest it has been randomly generated, but when putting this username through a Base64 decoder the output is transmisson. This awfully feels like an ARG (Alternate Reality Game) to tease something Portal related, may it be officially by Valve or by fans, which in Valve's case wouldn't be so uncommon since they did the same thing for Portal 2. I haven't found a post about this on this sub, so I figured I'd make one since a lot of people here might be interested in this. Moveable Portals theory Posted: 04 Jul 2021 12:42 PM PDT This is just something I was thinking, about if it would be possible for Portals to move. So, during the entire games, Portals disappear when the surface they're on moves, but this does create some problems. Earth is rotating and moving all the time, this means that every portal should disappear the moment you try to shoot them. You could say the Portals have a threshold so that they ignore the movement of the Earth, but that would mean that we would be able to manually move them as long as we maintain a consistent specific velocity to make the portals "think" it's Earth movement. You could also say that it's about the relative distance between the two portals, but then we wouldn't be able to shoot one in the moon. Of course, I know that it was just for plot convenience, the entire moon section shouldn't really play out like that (I'm pretty sure), but I just wanna think about something: What if instead of portals disappearing when the surface moves, it's actually just someone or an external force disabling them to avoid any problems? Let's say it's GLaDOS, for example (just an example, IK GLaDOS can't control anything for a huge section of Portal 2). So GLaDOS would be deactivating our portals whenever the surface moves to avoid the problems that come with that (Getting crushed between two portals, having a portal go inside another one...). Or perhaps the Portal Gun automatically makes that, and we could break it a little bit so it wouldn't be able to do that. When we go through the emancipation grill, the Portal Gun shakes and all the portals disappear, meaning they do have a connection with the gun even after they're already in a surface, and stuff we do with the gun can alter their state.
