Why no Portal 3?

I just over a month ago got portal 1 and 2, after finishing both games I hoped onto the steam store to look for portal 3 and to my surprise, there is no portal 3. Just curious but why isn't there a portal 3, I especially think that portal could be cool in VR. But yeah why is there no portal 3, also please understand that I have only had 1 and 2 for just over a month now and so that is why I am not in the loop about this.

There are two portals inside the gun which are linked to the repulsion and propulsion gel reserves.

I write custom music for my Portal 2 maps and have compiled them in an album titled Testing Tracks! The album has 14 tracks total, including music for released maps, work-in-progress maps, a few spin-off tracks, funnel variants, and three hidden bonus tracks, adding up to 40 minutes of music.
