    Glados makes Wheatley smarter?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 03:36 PM PDT

Personal head cannon I thought up, hopefully no one else has thought of this.

Wheatley is described as being designed to be the dumbest moron who ever lived, and yet he seemed to come up with a sound plan to take down glados, and then later in the game glados concedes that he made a pretty well laid trap right before "the part where he kills you".

At the beginning of the game he is legitimately dumb, he is in charge of looking after the test subjects and allows them to become vegetables / dead (not sure how much of this is his fault just thought to bring it up) and wakes up glados after warning Chell to not do that.

And yet after Glados damages him he suddenly seems to be a bit more reliable, dropping bird eggs into the door mechanism to get the chance to contact you face to face while Glados is busy, talks his way onto the nano bot work crew to follow chell as well as see future chambers where there could be opportunities for escape, and comes up with the plan to sabotage the turret line as well as destroy the neurotoxin generator.

My head cannon is that he was initially as dumb as you can get, but when Glados damages him she unintentionally makes him more intelligent seeing as he couldnt get any dumber.

"The rocket REALLY is the way to go"

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 08:04 PM PDT

During the final boss fight of Portal 1, GLaDOS taunts Chell with various lies, half-truths, and facts meant to crush her spirits and deter her from fighting.

She also gives some advice, one being "You should just lie down and let a rocket kill you, it's better than what the neurotoxin is going to do to you".

The creepy part about this is that GLaDOS is speaking from personal experience. When she gassed the Enrichment Center, she saw everybody there die slowly and painfully, so the suggestion of "let a rocket kill you instead of suffocation" has a lot more weight.

The creepiest part is that, while GLaDOS is being deceptive throughout the fight, this piece of advice would be the most helpful if Chell wasn't absolutely certain she was able to stop GLaDOS.

    Idea for portal 3 story:

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 08:00 PM PDT

Idea for plot: chell has returned to the enrichment center because they realize that some of the science there is to dangerous to be kept, and she needs a lock charge battery (pardon my made up words) to fuel the city's on the surface. They arrive at the center, and realize that some cores are missing. As chell makes her way through the test chambers in reconstruction, some cores tell chell that GLaDOS has been acting different as of late. Chell finally finds the lock charge battery somewhere near old aperture. Then GLaDOS arrives for the first time in the game, and she has a few new personality cores. The most noticeable on is a ambitious one, who dreams of expanding onto the surface, and putting all the humans into testing, named durst, the ambition core. Durst and GLaDOS take the battery from chell and send her into testing, but chell finds her way out into a in repairing area by test chamber 2 (Lol). Chell then finds some of the facilities cancelled projects (such as the purple jell). A cutscene plays, and Chell spends months creating rabbit wholes, and experimenting with the jells. Then, chell starts working her way towards the storage areas, but is caught by GLaDOS, who is more ambitious than ever. GLaDOS is about to kill chell when all of a sudden a tutorial kicks in, and chell uses the purple jell to escape to the storage facility's. Here, chell finds that Durst has made some new combat robots, that patrol the area. She also finds audio recordings from GLaDOS in the weeks after portal 2. The recordings explain that she needed new cores to meet the facility standards, so she made Durst who corrupted her thoughts, and made her more power hungry than ever. Chell then finds the battery in the storage, and uses it as a means of powering elevators so she can get to GLaDOS's core input system. Chell is about to remove Dustry, when all of a sudden GLaDOS comes smashing in, leaving the whole wing exposed. Chell uses her new ability's to scramble across the wing while GLaDOS bombards her with a series of lasers, rockets, and death robots. Chell makes it to Dusty, and unplugs them by placing a portal next to them just in time. Dusty is ejected to old aperture, and GLaDOS comes to her senses, and decides humans aren't so bad. She exports her data, and tech to a human city, and helps the humans rebuild, and then the video starts to get glitchy as a familiar maniacal laughter starts playing, and the screen pans back to revéale that someone has been watching the whole time, as the voice of Wheatley says "oooh I'm coming for you", concluding portal 3.

I just replayed the first game, and understood way more since I first played it as a kid.

I'm not sure how true this is to canon but from my interpretation the Portal games are a fictional universe where the A.I. singularity has occurred, and you play a survivor. As a kid I didn't really think about it that deeply, but replaying it I see how ahead of its time this game was. Also, as a kid I thought The Cake Is A Lie was just some other test subject, but I just realized Glados was constantly reviving Chell and she was writing it down herself getting closer to Glados.

Yeah so I'm sure you guys already know this stuff but it was cool to replay a game from my childhood and see the true genius of it. On to Portal 2 lol
