| How to I fix Lighting Rendering error? Posted: 12 Feb 2021 02:02 PM PST I contacted Valve customer support about it, and there was nothing they could do, as all the methods they suggested didn't fix anything. But I wanted to see if there was anyone here who could help. My issue is that my PC build seems to be too new/different from what the engine for Portal 2 is optimized to, so shadows in Portal 2 and mods for Portal 2 (Portal Stories Mel for example) don't render properly. This results in areas that are meant to be dark from shadows to be bright and visible, and areas that are meant to be lit from light sources to no have any light casted on them.
