The storyline of the portal games is the scariest shit ever. You are a middle age woman trapped in a facility that you signed up to just do some tests to make money for your family. Then you go to the facility and they trap you in there and tell you you can't leave. They put you through rigorous tests and puzzles and you can do nothing but oblige. You get through a couple puzzles and they tell you that you are doing these puzzles for science and you will get cake at the end. You get a weapon the can create portals from one place to another and you think the puzzles will get easier. But they don't. You get to the end and find out there was no cake. You find the robot that was forcing you to do these puzzles and push it down a shaft and think you killed it. Now portal 2. You wake up and have to do more stupid fucking god damned puzzles. You meet a friend named Wheatley. He helps you try to escape. When you come across the robot from before and she wakes the fuck up. She starts putting you through tests A FUCKING GAIN. And you think try to kill her again and you almost succeed but instead your friend decides to switch places with her. And he puts you though tests but the tests are meant to kill you. You find your way to a office that has the original robot and she put her conscious in a fucking potato and you take the potato and go fight your "friend" and you kill him by putting a portal on the moon and sending him out there. The robot sets you free and your in a cornfield somewhere in the middle of nowhere and you never get that fucking cake.

    Just finished Portal Stories: Mel.

The humor of the Portal series has left me with an insatiable craving for something similar; after seeing how hyped up this mod was in terms of the level design and the writing, I decided to try it for myself.

I definitely agree with the statements about the level design; they feel just as engaging and as challenging as the levels in the original game. However I felt like the writing left a bit to be desired. I do appreciate the team's effort to try to recreate the tone of the original games but with a bit more in the way of positivity and hope...but it was missing a certain something in regards to the humor. Of the mod's various attempts at jokes, I feel the only ones that really landed were the ones that were rehashes of Portal 2's jokes (such as AEGIS laying an obvious trap that you have the option of jumping into).

That being said; it's certainly not a bad product if you're really into Portal's gameplay, it's just a bit lacklustre as a whole when compared to the original games. That being said; it's certainly worth your time due to the talent that went behind crafting the finished product, especially considering that so much effort went into making a high quality expansion that's free to play.

What did y'all think of the game in comparison to the source material?
