    Hello Test Subjects,

Reddit just deployed a new live chat feature. Think of it like a lounge, or general discussion area. It's new to me too, so jump on in, and have fun!

EDIT: If you're on old reddit, this is probably not going to make a lot of sense to you...it just looks like a normal comment thread. Like many of reddit's new toys, it only works on the new site and their official apps.
You can quickly jump to it here: https://new.reddit.com/r/Portal/comments/fnrugt/rportal_lounge/

UNIVERSE-RELATED SPOILER WARNING: With the release of Half-Life: Alyx, what do you think the chances of getting a Portal 3 are and do you want one?

    Posted: 24 Mar 2020 12:07 AM PDT

In case you're a Half-Life fan (which I assume most of you are), the following is a spoiler because it spoils the ending of Half-Life: Alyx.

At the end of HL:A, the G-Man gets Alyx to save the life of her father Eli, undoing the end of Episode 2. After the credits, you're thrust into Gordon Freeman and the hazard suit, where you're given the crowbar by Eli Vance and told that there is work to do. Basically, Valve killed the "Half-Life 3 Confirmed!" memes by making it true.

With the confirmation that Valve is officially back in the game of, well, making games (both by that big white block of text up there and their statement of a return to the universe of Half-Life), do you think Valve will make a Portal 3? Better yet, do you want to see a third entry?

I know this is probably a stupid/strange question, but I genuinely want to know.

    Wheatley Appreciation

    Posted: 24 Mar 2020 02:36 AM PDT

It needs to be stated that Wheatley (From Portal 2) had one of the saddest character arcs in all of the games in the Valve universe. He was made exclusively to be a moron to make sure the A.I. he was attached to didn't get out of hand (In terms of intelligence and physical actions.) Being made to be dumb has its quirks. Being forced to be dumb allows for more enjoyment, as in being too dumb to understand the full scale of things, but also causes delusions to be warped into reality. Seeing Wheatley gain the power of being in control of the decades old Aperture Science building system was both executed perfectly and accurate to how an A.I. like him should react. Wheatley being in power immediately highlights his stupidity, and lack of understanding of greater concepts. It is sad, that it takes being put in space with a fellow (albeit dumb as well.) core for him to reflect (Something that dumb people don't do.) and learn from his actions.

    Portal 3?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 03:14 PM PDT

Recently I went digging in the Portal files and found this audio message. I wasn't able to find this recording g again, so I unfortunately can't play it for you, but here's a rough translation of what it said: "Hello, your test is starting soon. The portal will begin in 3..2..- cuts off, and static plays for about 10 seconds, and a deeper voice starts talking return to the lab in Portal 3, coming in- then the static stops, and the normal voice says ..1.. GO!" And then the sound of a portal opening plays, and then the audio cuts off. This is basically what I could hear from the static, but I'm pretty sure I missed some stuff. So yeah, Portal 3 confirmed? I mean, it almost said what time it would release, but then the audio of the guy talking cut off and went back to normal. Leave your thoughts in the comments. Now you're playing with portals!
