Cave Johnson Art from Aperture Desk Job [Datamined]

    Posted: 06 Mar 2022 12:36 AM PST

I was wondering why the playground had a tub of cube parts, and how portal 1/2 cubes got into the 80s; It's all foam. So are cube corners in portal 1/2, shock observers maybe?

Found a really great Portal tribute game

    Posted: 05 Mar 2022 10:46 AM PST

It's brand new and in the most unlikely of places too: Roblox. And it's not what you're imagining. Somebody here spent a year making their own levels with some new ideas inside. And the polish is incredibly high. Maybe even Valve level high.

It's called Tunnels. If you're itching for new portal gameplay, check this out. It's been scratching my itch. I didn't even know some of this was possible inside Roblox.

And before anybody tries, don't bother posting that video essay from Youtube on "what Roblox is". Not only is a majority of it misleading or outright wrong information but it has nothing to do with this! If you disagree with Roblox, don't play! I'm just here to share a fun fan-made Portal game!

[Theory] Desk Job is F-Stop (or what's left from F-Stop)

    Posted: 05 Mar 2022 09:30 PM PST

So all of the following is basically memorized off the top of my head so my memory wont be 100% to the true plot.

The Prototype of F-Stop took place in 1970-80s Aperture, where the player took control of a camera, the gameplay was to be similar to Superliminal, but the plot contained the invention of the Turret, and Cave Johnson (who was more Ronald Regan meets Colonel Sanders), who would eventually be installed into a computer, where he would go crazy (like Glados) and release his turrets onto aperture.

In the Concept art, there included the Mantis men (who were repurposed to the mineshaft tapes in P2), and a giant Chicken in the Offices.

Everything is present in Desk Job, Creation of the Turret, The mantis men, Cave finally as an AI, even referenced the giant chicken.

So here's my theory, what if F-Stop was never deleted by VALVe, keep in mind they did say they were considering returning and finishing F-Stop as a spinoff rather a prequal, and the remaining assets that sat dormant were ported into Source2 Engine, tuned up and repurposed for Desk Job.

It could make sense as to why they were able to release something so polished in such short notice (although they probably kept it under wraps for years, that's VALVe for ya). Since they also touched up on the scrapped Cave-Cube side plot from P2 with the ending, I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same for F-Stop.

What do you guys think, do you think F-Stop became Desk Job?

Looking for someone to help with professor portal achievement on Steam.

    Posted: 06 Mar 2022 01:15 AM PST

    Hello,

My son is a long time portal addict and he has 50 of 51 achievements. The only one he can't get is the professor portal challenge in which he needs to do the calibration course with someone who has not yet played CoOp. This sounds like a ridiculous challenge but he's so close so I thought I'd jump on here and see if anyone here can help the kid out. It should be quick

    Desk Job Ending

    Posted: 05 Mar 2022 11:42 AM PST

It got me thinking, what ACTUALLY happened to Cave?

he still lives or he is finally dead when all his lights shut down?

and for a theory. Could Cave head be inside the Animal King Turret? or at least his mind Inside the King?

i mean, apparently he started the "Turret singing" with the Toilet-Turrets and the head is pretty big, probably the turrets think the head is their king...

    What do you think?

Some doubts about AI and digital brains.

    Posted: 05 Mar 2022 05:43 PM PST

    - all aperture robots (core and turrets) have a human "brain" uploaded to them? like caroline to Glados

-Glados is "caroline"? or Glados is like an individual apart (an AI with caroline's brain upped and "repressed" by the original glados personality.

-If it's the second option, what exactly were the scientists trying to do? cave johnson made it clear that he wanted to turn the human brain into a computer... so glados was supposed to be 100% coraline... But she ended up developing a separate personality and ignored caroline's brain.
