Portal I know, I know. There are lots of different GLaDOS models made out of LEGO and some of You are probably tired of these but I really put an effort to make this.

I've already posted this a month ago, but I updated it so bad it's pretty much a new chamber. Way harder and more complex because I have no soul, and hopefully uncheesable.

    Have fun!

    Mod idea: The Nature Cubes

    Posted: 30 May 2021 12:44 AM PDT

I've been thinking about an idea for a portal mod some custom cubes with special effects, called the Nature Cubes. Let's talk about some examples:

-The Plant Cubes. They have a drawing of a plant in the center and their button counterpart is green. When placed on a green button, the ring around the logo turns on green and it grows a plant or a vine upwards, allowing you to reach a ledge.

-The Water Cubes. Their logo is a water drop. Their button counterpart and their ring activation color is navy blue. They spawn water that can activate some mechanisms and fill gaps so you can swim to the other side. The water can make turrets malfunction and explode.

-The Light Cubes. Their logo is a lightbulb and their button & activation color is white. The light is similar to a laser and can activate light catchers. Placing a light-charged cube in a special receptacle creates a hard light bridge that remains operational until the light cube runs out of light.

-The Sun Cubes. Their logo is the sun and their button and activation color is yellow. They also have special catchers and other special uses.

-The Ice Cubes. Their logo is an ice cube (an actual ice cube) and their button and activation color is light blue. They generate ice that can be used to cross gaps or shield from turrets.

The cubes will only activate when placed on buttons (except the light and sun cubes which can be charged for a short while). Cubes can be placed on buttons of a different type to create special effects. Some examples:

-Placing a plant cube in a water and a light/sun button then placing it back in a plant button will grow a much larger plant to reach higher ledges.

-Ice cubes melt when placed on sun buttons.

-Placing a water cube in an ice button freezes the cube making it non-functional. Placing the water cube in a sun button will melt the ice away.

-Placing a water cube in a sun button evaporates the cube.

Placing a sun cube on a light button or a light cube on a sun button will generate a powerful beam of light for a short while that can burn down turrets and activate both types of catchers (light and sun).

    Some other special effects:

-When charged, the sun cube's beam of light can melt ice.

-If an ice cube is put inside a pool of water, it'll freeze it.

-If a sun cube is put inside a pool, it'll make it hot and swimming in it will hurt. Putting an ice cube in a hot pool will make it melt but it will cool down the water.

-Placing a sun cube in a freezed pool will melt it but it will make the water hot.

I cannot make this because I pretty much suck at Hammer, let alone all the custom assets and voice acting. But please tell me what do you think. And if anyone uses this idea for an actual mod then, well, that's awesome!

I did some test chambers in game called "Scrap Mechanic". Sounds and music from Portal 2 were added in post production. Hope it looks faithful enough.

This game needs a puzzlemaker update

    Posted: 30 May 2021 03:16 AM PDT

I realize that Portal 2 is 10 years old, and Valve probably won't care or they won't even read this, but this game needs a puzzlemaker update. I'm not gonna say that the puzzlemaker needs the whole BEE2 set installed by default, but there's stuff that's missing and is really necessary...

    1. Choosing the chamber music. Why is this not a thing in the default game?

    2. More configurable panels. Angled panels should be a panel that allows you to change its height and angle more precisely. I'm not asking for an easier Hammer here but it could improve.

    3. Some decoration. Once again I'm not asking for easy Hammer but some small props like, cables, missing panels...

    4. Cooperative editor. This sounds absolutely insane, but what if you could create a chamber with a friend? Kind of like with Google Docs, where you can type with other person at the same time.

    5. Allowing you to choose which signage the elements use when setting connection visibility to Signage.

    6. More logic options, such as two separate inputs that enable the test element separately rather than forcing the two to be pressed simultaneously.

None of this is gonna happen, I know. But it should've happened when the game was released.

Portal 2 in a far future

    Posted: 30 May 2021 02:00 AM PDT

So here is the thing. Portal 2 is NOT in the far future. The "Nine nine nine" bot was clearly broken. Here is why. In the game, you can see Borealis in the underground docks. It's still there. It didn't have the teleport malfunction, after which she ended in Antarctica as seen in Episode 2.

Story of Half-Life 3 was meant to be in Antarctica, in a search for Borealis, and it was meant to be there (viz. Epistle 3)

Portal 2 takes place BEFORE Episode 2. Most likely before Half-Life 2 as it is, due to all events of Half-Life 2 happening in the same month.

    Portal Mod Idea

    Posted: 29 May 2021 11:09 AM PDT

I have an idea for a Portal mod. It would be cooperative and both players would have a device that can swap their positions if both of them hold a button. If one of them is holding a cube, the cube will teleport with them. Puzzles could be built in a way that this ability is required to solve the test. Emancipation grills could be useful for that.

Some random thing I've just thought of now but I need to share and ask before I forget - Do you think that the Atlas and P-Body co-op bots are related to Humans AND Vortigaunts?

    Posted: 29 May 2021 02:56 PM PDT

Ok so it's probably farfetched but I'm gonna shoot and put it out there anyway, I've tried Googling for answers but I havent found anything.

Do you think Atlas and P-Body co-op bots are related to Humans AND Vortigaunts? The reason I ask this is because I've recently noticed how Altas and P-Body are built. Notice how Atlas has characteristics which are human-like, big giveaway is the hands. But P-Body has characteristics which are Vortigaunt. 3 fingers on each hand, a longer arm and leg span and the legs built like a Vortigaunt.

What I'm trying to get at is, if GLaDOS built these robots, does she know about Vortigaunts? And how so?
