    /r/Portal Test Chamber Showcase - September 2021

    Posted: 01 Sep 2021 12:00 AM PDT

Hello, and again, welcome to the Aperture Science computer-aided enrichment center. We hope your brief detention in the relaxation vault has been a pleasant one.

The Enrichment Center is pleased to present the {{date %B %Y}} /r/Portal Test Chamber Showcase.

Here, you may post links to up to three chambers, or one collection. You may post your own chamber or someone else's chamber, but if it was made by someone else, please be advised that Aperture Science regulations require you to credit the author. If you fail to do so, you must disregard any undeserved praise.

Feedback and discussion about chambers you have tested in this thread is highly encouraged, as it helps creators to improve their work.

    Thank you, and have fun.

    About the ending (Portal 2)

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 06:03 AM PDT

I don't know if they wrote about this before, and if they discussed it, but I'm interested in the ending of Portal 2. During the battle with Wheatley and after the explosion, we see the moon and can shoot at it in order to open the portal. Question: how do we see the moon? The complex is very deep. How can we see her? (sorry for my bad english, I'm a horrible person)

    Caroline being deleted

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 06:28 PM PDT

It's up for debate whether or not Caroline was deleted. While in the credits song it is revealed she is not let's say she deleted her. Caroline never wanted to be an AI, there's deleted voice lines of her not wanting it and cave even says she wouldn't want it because she's modest. Between the time of when Chell passes out from the moon portal to when Chell wakes up to leave is an undetermined amount of time. GLaDOS at any given point could've deleted Caroline while Chell was passed out. My theory is Caroline wanted to make sure Chell was okay, for GLaDOS to keep her word, and be permanently deleted to finally be at peace. She never wanted to live forever and I see it as merciful of GLaDOS to let her go. Another thing is we can speculate what went on during the old aperture levels where GLaDOS went MIA to figure out who caroline was. She was probably having conversations with her in the potato.

Any thoughts anyone would like to add on?

Decided to learn UE4 and C++ while also doing something with my new VR headset. I've always wanted to do a Portal game so why the heck not do it all at once?

Not selling or distributing the game, just made it for fun and to learn stuff.

Portal 2 - Why is Test Shaft Nine forbidden? Why is it condemned? Does anyone know?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 06:44 PM PDT

When you are about to enter Test Shaft Nine, there are about thirty signs that warn you of its condemnation and how forbidden it is to enter. Why?

Just finished a half-life and Portal marathon, I have a question.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 12:27 PM PDT

I was in a Valve game mood a few weeks back and decided to play through the games that are set in the half-life world so portal was included. After playing through portal 2 I forgot how massive aperture science is. It made me start wondering which science facility was larger: Black Mesa or Aperture Science? Before I refreshed my memory with Portal 2 I would've said Black Mesa was the larger facility, but now I think that Aperture Science dwarfs the Black Mesa facility. What are your thoughts on this?
